CHICAGO - Despite a goal by senior midfielder Almir Hot (Belgrade, Serbia /Lindenwood University), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team could not capture a victory Wednesday afternoon falling, 2-1, to visiting McKendree College (Ill.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-3 overall this season.

McKendree scored the game's first goal in the fifth minute of play when senior forward Nicolas Mosca found the back of the net off an assist from freshman forward Matt Jannings. Hot tied things up, 1-1, in the 24th minute scoring off an assist from sophomore midfielder Agustin Herrera (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom). However, the Bearcats scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 39th minute of regulation on a breakaway by junior forward Jarius Holmes. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Miller provided the assist on the goal by Holmes. Freshman Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) got the start in goal for the Cougars posting three saves.

SXU (3-3 overall) takes a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, September 20, against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
