Elgin, Ill. - The Saint Xavier University men's soccer team could not pick up a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win Saturday falling 3-0 to No. 27 Judson College (Ill.) in Elgin, Ill. The loss ends a three-game win streak and drops the Cougars to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Judson scored its first two goals midway through the first half with junior forward Bruno Pradines recording the first score unassisted in the 21st minute of play and freshman midfielder Vitor Bravo tacking on the second goal just four minutes later off an assist from junior defender Gareth Thornley.
After leading 2-0 at halftime, Judson picked up its third goal of the game 17 minutes into the second half when junior midfielder Jesus Saiz found the back of the net off a pass from senior midfielder Dani Martinez. Freshman goalkeeper James Kline (Canton, Ohio/Perry) tallied five saves for SXU. The Cougars were outshot, 13-9, in the game, but took seven corner kicks to Judson's three.
Saint Xavier (6-3 overall/2-1 CCAC) continues its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) slate on Tuesday, September 27, facing Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) at SXU Stadium in Chicago. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
