Bourbonnais, Ill. - Despite second-half goals from sophomore midfielder Agustin Herrera (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) and senior midfielder Almir Hot (Belgrade, Serbia/Lindenwood University), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team had trouble stopping the Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) offense Saturday falling 4-2 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action in Bourbonnais, Ill. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play this season, while ONU improves to 4-4 overall and 1-1 as well in the CCAC.

In the 39th minute of play, senior midfielder Mouhamadou Diop gave Olivet the lead, 1-0, when he found the back of the net off an assist from junior midfielder Mike Young. Early in the second half, the Tigers scored two more goals in just over a two-minute span with the first coming in the 47th minute from freshman midfielder Josh Ayers and the second coming in the 49th minute by freshman midfielder Vincent Mkhwanazi. Trailing 3-0, SXU got its first goal of the game from Herrera in the 53rd minute of regulation off an assist from junior forward Alex Duncan (Orland Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC).

Olivet scored its final goal of the game in the 77th minute when freshman defender Cory Miller capitalized off a pass from Mkhwanazi. Saint Xavier got its last goal from Hot on an unassisted breakaway in the 80th minute to complete the game's scoring. Freshman Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) started in goal Saturday for the Cougars and finished with one save. SXU outshot ONU, 16-8, and had 10 shots on goal compared to just five by the Tigers.

Saint Xavier (4-4 overall, 1-1 CCAC) continues its conference slate on Wednesday, September 27, with a game against Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.). Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
