Men's Soccer - Thu, Oct. 6, 2005
Palos Heights, Ill. - Senior forward Paul Herbst (Cary, Ill./McHenry Co. CC) tallied the first and only goal of the game for the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team, but it was not enough as Trinity Christian College (Ill.) scored three unanswered goals to pick up the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win, 3-1, Wednesday night in Palos Heights, Ill. SXU falls to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in league play, while the Trolls improve to 8-2-1 and 3-1 in the CCAC.

Herbst gave Saint Xavier the 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute of play when he scored off an assist from senior defender Anthony Cappello (Cary, Ill./McHenry Co. CC). A goal by Trinity Christian's freshman forward Deizie Buor tied the game when junior midfielder Chad Ritchard found Buor open on the assist. With just a minute before halftime, the Trolls took the lead, 2-1, on a penalty kick goal by senior midfielder Adam Braun.

A goal by Ritchard in the 67th minute of play added some insurance for Trinity Christian in the second half giving the Trolls a 3-1 advantage. SXU finished the game with 14 shots compared to just seven by TCC, but could not find the back of the net again after the first goal.

Saint Xavier (7-5 overall/3-3 CCAC) continues its CCAC slate on Tuesday, October 11, with a road match-up with Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.). Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
