CHICAGO - Jessica Martinez, a senior at Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletics and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. She is currently a defender coached by Ray Navarro at Stagg.

Martinez is the daughter of Alonzo and Diane Martinez, who reside in Hickory Hills, Ill. She plans to pursue a degree in education at Saint Xavier University. Martinez will likely play either in the midfield or at defender next season for the Cougars.

"Jessica has the ability to play anywhere on the field and will strengthen a solid program that went 14-4-2 in the fall," said Saint Xavier University head women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She has a great first touch, strong work ethic, and is the ultimate team player. I'm very excited about the addition of Jessica to our program."
