Men's Soccer - Fri, Sep. 3, 2004
CHICAGO -- Junior forward and team co-captain Chris Bartley (Park Forest, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) scored both goals for the No. 24 Saint Xavier University men's soccer team, but it was not enough to secure the win as the Cougars tied with William Woods University (Mo.), 2-2, Friday as part of the Saint Xavier University Classic at SXU stadium. Bartley scored his first goal of the day twenty minutes into the first half to put SXU ahead, 1-0. WWU's senior forward John Hayes tied the game, 1-1, just thirteen minutes later off a pass from freshman forward Alberto Urdin-Gonzalez. Bartley used an assist from senior forward Andy Kocur (Harwood Heights, Ill./Loyola Academy) with just seven minutes remaining in the first half to score his second goal and put SXU ahead, 2-1, at the halftime break.

William Woods scored its game-tying goal 15 minutes into the second half on an unassisted shot from senior midfielder Antonio Proveda-Lopez. Senior goalkeeper Enrique Orejel (Chicago, Ill./Curie) finished the game with three saves for Saint Xavier.

The Cougars (0-1-1 overall) continue play in the Saint Xavier University Classic on Saturday, September 4, with SXU facing William Penn University (Iowa) at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 3, at SXU stadium.
