CHICAGO -- Agustin Herrera, a midfielder/forward from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, has signed a letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University in Chicago as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. Herrera, a native of Chicago Heights, was coached by Kelly Gutierrez during his prep career at Bloom Township.
Herrera is expected to continue play at either the midfielder or forward position next season at Saint Xavier University. He plans to pursue a degree in business marketing and management. Herrera is the son of Diego and Marilu Herrera, who reside in Chicago Heights.
"I'm extremely excited that Agustin has decided to continue his education and soccer career at SXU," said Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic. "As a coach, you are always looking for that combination of great student and great athlete. Agustin is a direct hit on both counts. Soccer-wise, he is a special player who will add a lot of flavor to our side and I expect him to compete for significant playing time right from the start."
