CHICAGO -- Chris Coccaro, a senior goalkeeper at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. Coccaro played under Dan Radz during his prep career at Lincoln-Way Central High School.
"I'm extremely excited about signing Chris," said Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic. "He is an intense, hardworking athlete, who played for an outstanding high school program and coach. He will have an opportunity to come in and compete immediately and I'm looking forward to him blossoming into another outstanding SXU goalkeeper."
Coccaro was named both an all-sectional (honorable mention) and all-conference (first team) goalkeeper at Lincoln-Way Central during his senior season in 2004. He earned all-area recognition by the Star and Herald News newspapers as well as being named a Daily Southtown Player of the Week. During his junior season in 2003, Coccaro was also named to the all-conference (honorable mention). He is the son of Steve Coccaro and Susan Shedor and plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Saint Xavier University.
