Men's Soccer - Sat, Oct. 9, 2004
CHICAGO - Despite a first-half, penalty kick goal from junior forward Paul Herbst (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team could not maintain its 1-0 halftime advantage falling 2-1 to No. 5 ranked and undefeated Judson College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday at SXU stadium. The Cougars fall to 9-3-1 overall and drop their first conference game of the season (5-1), while Judson improves to 16-0 overall and 8-0 in league play.

Herbst converted on his penalty kick in the 14th minute of the game to give SXU the 1-0 advantage and then used solid defense to keep Judson off the scoreboard heading into halftime. However, in the second half, Judson earned a penalty kick of its own in the game's 62nd minute and sophomore midfielder Aaron Craggs was able to knot the game, 1-1. SXU had a chance to take the lead in the 73rd minute of the game after earning another penalty kick, but Herbst's shot was stopped by Judson's junior goalkeeper Aron Hyde. With just over four minutes left to play in regulation, Judson senior forward Doco Wesseh broke free from the SXU defense to score the game-winning goal unassisted. Senior goalkeeper Enrique Orejel (Chicago, Ill./Curie) finished with five saves for SXU.

The Cougars head to Florida for their annual fall break trip to take on Barry University in Miami on Wednesday, October 13, at 6 p.m. (eastern) before meeting up with St. Thomas University in Miami on Sunday, October 17, at 12 p.m. (eastern).
