CHICAGO - Amanda Turek, a senior middle blocker from Oak Forest High School in Oak Forest, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar volleyball program. She was coached by Amanda Brown during her prep career for the Lady Bengals of Oak Forest.
Last season, Oak Forest finished 19-12-1 overall and 8-3 in the Blue Division of the SICA Central. Turek was also named a honorable mention all-conference selection her senior season. She is the daughter of Dave and Mary Turek of Oak Forest. Turek will play both at middle blocker or on the right side next season for the Cougars. She is looking to pursue a degree in nursing next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Amanda is going to develop into a force to be reckoned with," said Saint Xavier University head volleyball coach Bob Heersema. "Her best years will be here at Saint Xavier University. She has the ability to play either in the middle or on the right side."
