CHICAGO - Ken Hurta, a senior catcher/pitcher/first baseman at Bremen High School in Midlothian, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar baseball program. Hurta, a Midlothian native, is projected to be a catcher at SXU when he joins the team as a freshman for the 2008 season.

Hurta is currently coached by Brad Esposito at Bremen High School. In 2006, he was a member of the Fall Wooden Bat League All-Star South Team and considered a "Top Prospect" by the Chicago White Sox Academy Fall Exposure Camp.

"We are very excited about Ken becoming a Cougar," said Saint Xavier University head baseball coach Mike Dooley. "Our coaching staff believes he has all the tools and projects well as a catcher in the future."
