CHICAGO - Behind a six-hit (6-for-7) and seven-RBI day from senior second baseman and reigning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg), the No. 19 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team swept a conference doubleheader from rival Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tuesday at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago. The Cougars (19-7 overall/10-0 CCAC) kept their league mark perfect at 10-0 by winning game one, 7-1, and then taking the nightcap, 9-1, in six innings.

In the first game of Tuesday's twinbill, SXU got three-hit outings from Kilduff, junior right fielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic), and senior left fielder Rhea Minas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen). The Cougars racked up 13 hits in the game. ONU scored its lone run in the top of the second inning before Saint Xavier scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings before tacking on three more in the sixth. Senior righthander and reigning CCAC Pitcher of the Week Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) got the game-one victory throwing all seven innings and allowing just three hits, no walks, and one earned run with eight strikeouts.

Game two was a similar affair with the Tigers scoring a run early in the top of the first inning, but SXU answering the call with three runs of its own in the bottom frame. The Cougars tacked on six more runs over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to end the game early. Kilduff finished game two 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBI, while junior centerfielder Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore rightie Ashley Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) logged the win in the nightcap pitching all six innings and giving up five hits, no walks, and an earned run with one strikeout.

The Cougars (19-7 overall/10-0 CCAC) continue their conference schedule with a home doubleheader against CCAC foe Trinity International University (Ill.) on Thursday, April 6. Start time for the twin bill is 3 p.m. at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
