CHICAGO - Junior right fielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) racked up nine hits and scored six runs over four games to help lead the No. 19 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team to four straight victories over the weekend. The Cougars (17-7 overall/8-0 CCAC) swept a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader from Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.) on Saturday in Milwaukee and then swept through its two non-conference games against Indiana Institute of Technology Sunday in Chicago.

SXU won its first game Saturday, 4-0, over Cardinal Stritch behind a strong pitching performance from senior righthander Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster). Wilson threw all seven innings and allowed just four hits, no runs, and no walks with six strikeouts. The Cougars finished the game with 11 total hits, including a 3-for-4 showing from sophomore catcher Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsee Valley). Junior designated hitter Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton) also had a good game at the plate going 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.

In Saturday's nightcap, Saint Xavier kept its offense rolling en route to a 10-0 victory in seven innings. Senior second baseman Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) had the hot bat in game two hitting 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI. Sophomore rightie Ashley Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) earned the win on the mound pitching seven innings and allowing six hits, no runs, and no walks with four strikeouts.

Kilduff continued her hot hitting into the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against Indiana Institute of Technology, which SXU won 9-1 in five innings. Kilduff was one of three Cougar players with three hits in the game going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Barker and senior left fielder Rhea Minas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) also each recorded three hits and a RBI in Sunday's game one. Wilson picked up the win pitching all five innings and gave up five hits and a run (unearned) with four strikeouts.

Three Saint Xavier home runs in game two led to a big 13-5 win over Indiana Tech with Kilduff, Minas, and junior catcher Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) all sending shots over the outfield fence. The trio also combined for nine of SXU's 13 RBI in the game. Junior shortstop Samantha Lovato (Oak Forest, Ill./Eisenhower) also had a big game at the plate going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI. Sophomore pitcher Nicolle Bartels (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) earned the win pitching four of the five innings in the game and allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and two walks with a strikeout.

The Cougars (17-7 overall/8-0 CCAC) continues their conference schedule with a home doubleheader against CCAC rival Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Tuesday, April 4. Start time for the twin bill is 3 p.m. at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
