Women's Basketball - Fri, Oct. 26, 2007
CHICAGO - Although the 2007-2008 Saint Xavier University women's basketball season does not officially kick off until Saturday, November 10, at McKendree College (Ill.), head coach Bob Hallberg is excited about his team's opportunity to play a pair of exhibition games against local NCAA Division I opponents over the next two weeks. The Cougars will kick off the exhibition slate with a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday, October 30 against DePaul University (Ill.), at McGrath Arena in Chicago.

SXU is coming off its most successful season to date winning a program-best 29 games last season (29-3) and earning a spot in the NAIA "Sweet 16" before being eliminated by eventual national champion Lambuth University (Tenn.). DePaul was recently tabbed to finish seventh in the highly competitive 16-team Big East Conference when the 2007-08 Preseason Big East Coaches' Poll was released earlier this week.

"Our team is really excited about the opportunity to line up against a nationally recognized NCAA Division I power like DePaul University," said Hallberg. "Playing against talented competition helps our players grow. Plus, it is exciting for them to play in a Division I atmosphere."

Saint Xavier continues exhibition play on Tuesday, November 6, matching up against University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) at the UIC Pavilion. The second and final exhibition is set to start at 6 p.m.
