Olathe, Kan. - The Saint Xavier University softball team had senior Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) and juniors Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton), Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic), and Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) all recognized as 2006 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes when the national office released the names earlier this week. In addition, Wilson, Bodi, and Nicole Barker also represented District 5 in the College Division list of CoSIDA - ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans.
To be named a Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale and be at least a junior in academic standing. Criteria are similar for the CoSIDA - ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Teams, however, college sports information directors from throughout the district vote recipients onto the respective teams.
