CHICAGO -- Junior midfielder Marco Meier (Bariloche, Argentina/Bellevue University) scored the game's only goal Tuesday to lift the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.), 1-0, at SXU stadium. The Cougars have won four straight games and are currently 4-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play this season. Freshman midfielder Matt Prunckle (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) recorded the assist on Meier's game-winning goal, which came near the midway point of the second half. Senior goalkeeper Enrique Orejel (Chicago, Ill./Curie) earned the shutout, his first of the season.
The Cougars host St. Ambrose University on Thursday, September 16, for a non-conference match-up at SXU stadium. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
