CHICAGO - Behind a 5-for-7 showing at the plate by junior right fielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic), the No. 17 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team added two more wins to its overall record Thursday defeating non-conference foe Bethel College (Ind.) in doubleheader action. The Cougars (31-9 overall/16-2 CCAC) extended their current win streak to 12 games with the sweep winning game one, 6-0, and picking up the 9-1 victory in a six-inning nightcap.

In game one, senior second baseman Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) improved on her new school-record, single-season marks in home runs (14) and RBI (64) by sending a three-run shot over the left field wall in the sixth inning. Senior righthander Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) got the win in the first game throwing all seven innings and allowing just six hits, no runs, and no walks with six strikeouts. Wilson improved to 16-4 on the season with the victory.

Home runs by junior catcher Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) and sophomore left fielder Laurie Felton (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) helped plate four runs in the bottom of the fourth to break up a 1-1 tie. Senior first baseman Megan Stluka (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) and Hall each picked up a RBI in the fifth inning to extend the Saint Xavier lead to six runs, 7-1. Kilduff recorded another RBI in the sixth and later scored SXU's final run on a throwing error by Bethel's shortstop to end the game early. Sophomore rightie Ashley Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) earned the second win on the mound for Saint Xavier throwing all six innings and giving up nine hits, one run, and no walks with four strikeouts.
