Orland Park, Ill. - Senior righthander Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) and sophomore rightie Nicolle Bartels (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) allowed a combined five hits and no runs to help lead No. 17 Saint Xavier University to a doubleheader sweep of Robert Morris College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) softball action Thursday in Orland Park, Ill. The Cougars took game one, 4-0, and then completed the sweep with a 9-0 victory in the nightcap. With just two conference games remaining on its 2006 slate, SXU sits in the driver's seat to win at least a share of the CCAC regular-season title for the sixth straight season.

Junior first baseman Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton) finished the day 2-for-7 with a run scored and three RBI, while junior centerfielder Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) went 3-for-7 with three runs scored. Wilson was sensational on the mound in game one pitching all seven innings and giving up just two hits, no runs, and two walks with six strikeouts. Bartels was equally impressive in the nightcap throwing the complete game and allowing three hits, no runs, and no walks with three Ks.

After three scoreless innings to start game one, Saint Xavier used four hits to plate three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. Junior designated hitter Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) and sophomore catcher Aly Kelley (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsee Valley) each recorded RBI hits in the fourth, while senior right fielder Rhea Minas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) also earned a RBI in the inning on a sacrifice fly to right field. In the fifth, the Cougars added an insurance run when senior second baseman Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) led off the inning with a walk and junior shortstop Samantha Lovato (Oak Forest, Ill./Eisenhower) brought her home two at-bats later with a triple.

SXU started game two with two quick runs in the first inning behind a walk to Bodi with the bases loaded and a sac fly to centerfield by Hall. Bodi drew another walk with the bases loaded in the second inning to put Saint Xavier ahead, 3-0. The Cougars cruised the rest of the way picking up four more runs in the sixth inning and plating their final two runs in the seventh. Junior rightfielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) had a solid showing at the plate in game two going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.

The Cougars (27-9 overall/14-2 CCAC) take a few days off for the Easter holiday and return to action on Tuesday, April 18, for their final 2006 CCAC regular-season doubleheader against Trinity Christian College (Ill.). Start time for game one is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Palos Heights, Ill.
