Elgin, Ill. - Senior second baseman Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) went 6-for-9 with three runs scored and five RBI on the day to lead No. 20 Saint Xavier University to a doubleheader sweep over Judson College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) softball action Thursday in Elgin, Ill. The Cougars (8-6 overall/2-0 CCAC) won game one, 8-2, and then carried the momentum into the nightcap with a 14-0 victory in five innings.

In the first game, SXU cranked out 16 hits with Kilduff leading the way going 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI. Senior third baseman Michelle Abraham (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) and junior designated hitter Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton) each finished the first game 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while junior shortstop Samantha Lovato (Oak Forest, Ill./Eisenhower) was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Senior Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) got the victory on the mound in the first game pitching all seven innings and allowing seven hits and two earned runs with 12 strikeouts.

Judson led 1-0 after the first two innings of game one, but junior catcher Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) hit a two-out double and later scored on a RBI single by Lovato. Lovato also scored in the third inning following another two-out hit by senior left fielder Rhea Minas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) to give SXU the 2-1 advantage. The Cougars tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to four runs, 5-1. In the final two innings, Kilduff recorded a RBI double and a RBI single, respectively, to help secure the victory.

The offensive momentum poured into the nightcap as SXU scored early and often en route to a 14-0 win. Saint Xavier scattered 12 hits over the five-inning game with Kilduff and Hall leading the way each going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. Lovato recorded a two-out grand slam in the top of the fourth inning to help shorten the game. Sophomore Nicolle Bartels (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) picked up the game-two shutout victory pitching all five innings and allowing just six hits and two walks with one strikeout.

The Cougars (8-6 overall/2-0 CCAC) continue their CCAC slate with a home doubleheader on Friday, March 24, against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). The first game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at SXU Softball Field.
