CHICAGO - Ian Pickett, a senior defender at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletics and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. The Homer Glen, Ill., native is expected to make the move to goalkeeper next fall at SXU.

Pickett is the son of Steve and Yvonne Pickett of Homer Glen. He was coached by John Kovatch during his prep career at Providence Catholic High School. Pickett plans to pursue a degree in business while attending Saint Xavier University.

"Ian is an intense competitor and a natural leader," said Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic. "I expect those qualities to have a quick impact on raising the level of play among his teammates. His decision to attend Saint Xavier is another indication of the high quality student-athlete this program is attracting. He will compete for playing time in goal right from the start."
