Decatur, Ala. - Saint Xavier University sophomore catcher Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) was named a 2005 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball Honorable Mention All-American when the honors were released last week at the national tournament in Decatur, Ala. In addition, junior pitcher Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) represented Saint Xavier University on the 2005 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar Athlete Team.
Hall batted .349 (44-for-126) in 49 games at catcher for the Cougars. She finished second on the team in home runs (8) and RBI (41), while recording the third-best team total for doubles (10). On the defensive side, Hall was even more impressive racking up 201 putouts and 10 assists without a single error for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Wilson, a biology major at SXU, also had a stellar 2005 season with SXU. She finished with a 21-7 win-loss record on the mound with a team-low 1.49 earned run average (ERA). Wilson led the Cougar pitching staff in a number of categories, including appearances (30), complete games (24), innings pitched (178.2), strikeouts (163), and shutouts (7). In the classroom, she has a senior academic standing and carries a 3.86 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
The Saint Xavier University softball team finished the 2005 season with an overall record of 41-19 and were the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season champions with a league mark of 16-2. The Cougars ended their season with a 5-4 loss to No. 1 seeded Waldorf College (Iowa) in the semifinals of the NAIA Region VII Softball Tournament.
