Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior outfielder Chris Gruber (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week Tuesday after his impressive individual outings as SXU finished 3-1 overall in baseball action last week. Gruber helped lead the Cougars to conference wins over Purdue University-North Central and University of St. Francis (Ill.) before falling, 9-6, to rival Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) to end the week.

Gruber went 10-for-16 (.625) at the plate over the four-game stretch and recorded four doubles, a triple, six runs scored, and six RBI. Starting all four games in left field, he also racked up 10 putouts all without committing a single error and had an impressive slugging percentage of 1.000 on the week.

The Cougars (16-23 overall/7-2 CCAC) host conference foe Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Tuesday, April 18, at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. Start time for the nine-inning game is 3:30 p.m.
