CHICAGO – A goal and an assist by junior Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) paced the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team in a 4-1 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Roosevelt University (Ill.) Saturday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.  Prior to its final regular season home game Saturday, the SXU women's soccer program recognized its four seniors, Anita Balciunas (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield), Molly Sheehan (Orland Park, Ill./Stagg), Rachel Wojtysiak (Palos Hills, Ill./Millikin University/Stagg) and Jessica DePinto (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) in honor of "Senior Day."

Saint Xavier got on the scoreboard early when sophomore forward Lexi Cozzi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) found the back of the net on a short shot set up by an assist from Graves in the game's 16th minute.  Just before halftime, junior Marissa Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) put the Cougars ahead, 2-0, on an unassisted shot from 10 yards deep.  Early in the second half, SXU extended its lead, 3-0, on another unassisted shot, this one off the foot of freshman forward Mariana Hoerr (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas).  Morgan Graves capped the scoring surge for Saint Xavier in the 65th minute on a shot created by assists from freshman midfielder Christina Sperando (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) and sophomore defender Rachel Didier (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East), respectively.

The Lakers added their only goal of the game in the 83rd minute when sophomore midfielder Delaney Barrett redirected a free kick attempt by sophomore forward Carli Schlaker.  Junior Danielle Koncius (Palos Hills, Ill./Heartland CC/Stagg) played well in goal for the Cougars finishing the evening with two saves.  The SXU offense finished with 22 total shots, including 14 on goal.  The four goals were the most scored by the Cougars in a game this season.

Saint Xavier (6-10-1 overall/3-7-0 CCAC) completes its regular season slate on Wednesday, November 6, with a conference road game against Robert Morris University (Ill.).  The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start in Arlington Heights, Ill.
