Arlington Heights, Ill. – Junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) finished with 11 kills and five total blocks (one solo) to help the Saint Xavier University volleyball team get past Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Robert Morris University (Ill.) Thursday night in Arlington Heights, Ill. The Cougars (14-13 overall/7-8 CCAC) were efficient on the night taking the match in three straight sets by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20. Sophomore right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) led SXU's offensive attack against the host Eagles posting 12 kills.
Junior setter Kelli Shaffer
(Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) led the Cougars with 36 assists to go along with her two kills, two service aces, two block assists and seven digs. Junior defensive specialist/outside hitter Jessica Galotta
(Chicago, Ill./Parkland CC/Mother McAuley) also had a productive match for Saint Xavier with nine kills and five digs. Junior libero Dominique Aramburu
(Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) was tough defensively for SXU scooping up a team-best 12 digs.
Saint Xavier (14-13 overall/7-8 CCAC) heads downtown to take on Roosevelt University (Ill.) in conference action on Tuesday, November 5. The road match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
