Joliet, Ill. – The Nonnemacher sisters, Megan and Nicole (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community), took care of business at the plate, and especially on the mound, for Saint Xavier University as the pair led the Cougars to a perfect 10-0 record last week and a sweep of this week's Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week awards, which were announced on Tuesday morning.  Combined, the sisters went 10-0 on the mound with 92 strikeouts in 67.1 innings (1.37 per inning) and an earned run average (ERA) of 0.73.  Megan Nonnemacher authored five of the 10 victories to earn the CCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week accolade, while younger sister Nicole Nonnemacher gained the other five wins and supplied plenty of offense to the tune of a .480 batting average to earn the conference's Softball Player of the Week honor.

Megan Nonnemacher, a junior, posted three shutouts among her five victories and only allowed three runs all told over 33.1 innings leading to a sparkling 0.63 ERA.  Her shutout victories came against Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) on March 11, NCAA Division II University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) on March 14 and Mount Mercy University (Iowa) on March 16.  In the win over Mount Vernon Nazarene, Megan Nonnemacher allowed just three hits, while in the victory over Sioux Falls, she struck out 13 batters.  For the week, she totaled 41 strikeouts for an average of 1.23 per inning.  Of her five appearances, four were starts.

Nicole Nonnemacher, a freshman, turned in an impressive 0.82 ERA over her five starts and struck out 51 batters in 34 innings for an average of 1.5 Ks per inning.  She also got things done at the plate, where she hit safely in eight of nine games with three multi-hit affairs.  For the week, she totaled 12 hits in 25 at-bats with seven runs scored, three doubles and three runs batted in.

Saint Xavier is currently ranked No. 25 in the NAIA's Preseason Top 25 Poll.  The Cougars have won their last 12 games and sit at 14-2 overall, one of the best starts in program history.  SXU kicks off conference play on Thursday, March 21, with a home doubleheader against No. 12 ranked Olivet Nazarene University at the SXU Softball Field.  The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
